         Abstract

This paper will discuss about novel created by Charles Dickens and film Oliver Twist by Roman Polanski. The purpose of this paper is to (a) describe the story in the novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens (1838) (b) describe the story in the film Oliver Twist by Roman Polanski (2005) (c) to describe the similarity and differences between novel and film. The data of this study were in the story in the novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens and the story in the film Oliver Twist by Roman Polanski. The appropriate theory for this analysis use ekranisasi analysis with transformation approach. The research found between novel and film has decreasing story in the film Oliver Twist by Roman Polanski. The evidence showed that the story begins with Oliver Twist’s mother deliver the baby (Oliver Twist), his mother died when she delivered Oliver. Oliver become an orphan child and come to workhouse, but in the film, the story begins when Oliver had brought by Mr.Bumble to work in the workhouse and also do farming.
